Little is recorded on the Herrington side of the family. Photos and other records are scarce. This photo of Grandmother Bessie is the only one so far identified as being of her. Bessie (Elizabeth "Bessie" Garner b: in Michigan, March 1861 d: 18 November 1927) had a total of 6 children, 4 of them died before the 1900 census. She was the step mother to Henri. She apparently had three children in her previous marriage (all of them dying young). Her first child with Harmon (George D. Herrington) also died young (less than a month prior to Anson's birth). At the end of it all she had three children reach maturity, step son Henri and two natural sons Anson and Harold. It isn't apparent how much of a role Bessie played in raising Henri.
